MSI unveils Geforce GTX 980 Ti Sea Hawk with water cooling from Corsair

During the summer, it has emerged that MSI has teamed up with Corsair to create a new worsting model of the Geforce GTX 980 Ti in the exclusive OC series, especially known for the company’s Lightning graphics cards. The results of the collaboration are now announced.

The model is called MSI Geforce GTX 980 Ti Sea Hawk and comes equipped with the closed water cooler Hydro H55 from Corsair. The radiator itself measures 120 millimeters and is connected to a water block, mounted on the graphics circuit. Other components are cooled with the help of a tailor-made bracket and cover with associated radial fan.

According to MSI, the model is 30 percent quieter and cooler than the Geforce GTX 980 Ti in its reference version, which should provide plenty of room for overclocking. This can also be seen in the company’s own marketing, where users are encouraged to increase their clock frequencies via the Afterburner software.

Although the model is aimed at overclockers, MSI has not left the clock frequencies untouched. The graphics processor runs at 1,190 and 1,291 MHz at base and boost respectively – just over 10 MHz under the Lightning variant of the GTX 980 Ti. The clock frequency for the card’s 6 GB GDDR5 amounts to 7,096 MHz, for a theoretical bandwidth of 340.6 GB / s.

The graphics card will be available shortly at the recommended approximate price of $ 739.99, which corresponds to approximately SEK 7,650 including VAT.
