Nanoxia Deep Silence 3: Review | Test |Specs | CPU Performance | Hashrate | Prose & Cons| Set-up – Back at Nanoxia today, after testing the excellent Deep Silence 5 rev B (which you can read here) which combines build quality / silence / price, I am going to introduce you to its little brother, soberly named Deep Silence 3!

On the program a more compact case but still in ATX format, removable disk cages, 3 fans of 12 cm, of course equipped to be as quiet as possible and offered at an aggressive price of around € 75 including tax, if the results are good it could be a serious competitor to the Fractal Design Define R5, let’s take a closer look!

The Nanoxia Deep Silence 3 is a case which is much more classic than its big brother the Deep Silence 5, and this on several levels, starting with the motherboard which can range from a mini-ITX model to a classic ATX model ( the Deep Silence 5 is compatible with the larger E-ATX).

The dimensions are very classic here with a length of 52 cm for 45.6 cm of height and 20.7 cm of thickness for a weight of 9.3 kg, a muscular configuration will however have no difficulty in entering. The graphics card can be up to 34.5 cm in length with the hard drive cage installed and 43 cm without, which will make room for the biggest beasts on the market, without exception! As for the processor cooler, it will be necessary to opt for a model up to 16.5 cm in height, which should not pose the slightest problem for 95% of cases, even for the largest!

The storage capacity is not left out with the possibility of installing 5 disks in 3.5 ″ / 2.5 ″ format as well as 3 disks / 2.5 ″ SSD, which should logically be sufficient for almost all users. less the need for a storage server 😉 Nanoxia does not ignore 5.25 ″ devices like the current trend and offers 3 slots, one of which can be converted to 3.5 ″ via a supplied adapter.

Like its big brother, the Deep Silence 3 is not left out in terms of ventilation with a good number of slots available, 2 x 12 cm at the front, 2 x 12/14 cm on the top, 1 x 12 cm at the back as well as 1 x 12/14 cm below, which means that if necessary it can be extremely well ventilated. Originally it comes with 3 brand 12 cm fans, Deep Silence running at a maximum speed of 1300 RPM which should ensure good cooling while being silent (adjustable via the integrated rheobus), 2 are placed at the ‘front and 1 at the rear in extraction.

That’s not all! Nanoxia has also thought of fans of silence (which is normal when you see the model) by offering foam wherever it is possible to put it (side doors, front doors as well as on the top part), disc carts hard equipped with rubbers, the power supply will also rest from the rubber pads and finally there are 2 rheobus at the front. The dust filters are of course part of the game.

Offered at a price of around € 75, the technical characteristics are more attractive, especially when you see the level of equipment of the Deep Silence 3.

Nanoxia_deep_silence_3_box1
Nanoxia_deep_silence_3_box2

The box is very sober, a mixture of white and black which announces the color! On the front there are drawings of the beast, as well as a listing of the main features such as easy access to fans, modular hard drive cages, 2 rheobus etc. At the back a diagram showing the interior du box offers a detailed listing of all the parts, at least we won’t be caught off guard once the beast is open!

Nanoxia_deep_silence_3_box3

On the sides there are tables of the complete technical characteristics of the Deep Silence 3, in several different languages!

Nanoxia_deep_silence_3_box4

When opening the box we fall on the box in its plastic bag caught between 2 polystyrene molds to ensure the safest possible transport.

Nanoxia_deep_silence_3_bundle

The bundle consists of:

  • 1 x 5.25 ″ -> 3.5 ″ adapter
  • 1 x 4 + 4-pin CPU extension cable
  • 4 x plastic cable ties
  • 1 x manual
  • The necessary screws in individual and labeled bags
Read This Now:   2 × Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1650 in the test

The Bundle is as usual at Nanoxia rather complete, in addition to the essentials that are the screws and the manual a 4 + 4-pin extension for the processor has been added as well as plastic cable ties and a 5.25 adapter. ″ -> 3.5 ″, enough to install its configuration in the best possible conditions.

Nanoxia_deep_silence_3

Here is the beast! As usual at Nanoxia, sboriety is the key word, extravagance has no place here! The design is undoubtedly very close to what can be seen in all silent-oriented boxes (like the Fractal Design R4 / R5 for example), except perhaps for the presence of a half door at the front. , in any case fans of a sober case will be delighted!

Nanoxia_deep_silence_3_exterieur_devant1

Not much to say on the front, everything is black and nothing disturbs this sobriety, not even the brand’s logo! Unlike the Deep Silence 5 here there is only one part that can be opened, the top one, the bottom part is one piece and will unfortunately remain closed. We do not see it well in the photo but the finish is brushed aluminum very well done, on the other hand we can see that the fingerprints arrive easily!

Nanoxia_deep_silence_3_exterieur_devant2

Once the top door is open we come across the 3 removable covers for 5.25 ″ peripherals, the reset button and the 2 rheobus.

Nanoxia_deep_silence_3_exterieur_devant4

The 2 rheobus are not notched like many and therefore offer very fine adjustments thanks to the 2 sliders, it will be possible to adjust the fans installed as we see fit!

Nanoxia_deep_silence_3_exterieur_devant3

The door is fitted with foam on the inside, in order to muffle as much as possible the potential noise nuisance that would come from this part of the facade.

Nanoxia_deep_silence_3_exterieur_devant6

The front is removable and can be removed very easily, behind it we come across the 5.25 ″ covers that will have to be removed to install peripherals (the one at the top is missing for faster assembly), we can also see the filter dustproof in front of the fans, unfortunately to clean the latter it will be necessary either to unscrew it (it is integral with the fans) or to clean directly with a brush for example. It’s a shame not to have a removable filter here, it would have made cleaning much easier.

Nanoxia_deep_silence_3_exterieur_devant5

Behind the facade and in front of the dust filter Nanoxia has also added a rectangle of foam to reduce noise pollution as much as possible.

Nanoxia_deep_silence_3_exterieur_dessus

Above there is not much to say, 2 honeycomb grilles for 12/14 cm fans (equipped with covers) as well as the connectors and the power button.

Nanoxia_deep_silence_3_exterieur_dessus_connectique

The connection is made up of 1 x USB 2.0, 2 x USB 3.0, 2 x 3.5 mm jack (microphone and headset) as well as of course the power button. It is strange not to see 2 USB 2.0 connectors, knowing that the place is there and that the cable going from the connectors to the motherboard is almost identical whether it is with 1 or 2 connectors.

Nanoxia_deep_silence_3_exterieur_dessous

Underneath there are plastic feet fitted with rubber to isolate the case from the surface on which it rests as well as a dust filter which covers the location of the power supply, a pity that it does not cover the ‘location of the optional fan as on the Deep Silence 5 rev B.

Nanoxia_deep_silence_3_exterieur_arriere

At the back, everything is very classic here except maybe 4 places for water-cooling pipes. The extension brackets are perforated, the fan has a honeycomb-shaped grille and there is even another small honeycomb grille for a little more ventilation.

Nanoxia_deep_silence_3_exterieur_cote

On the sides it is dead calm, everything is black and no items are present except the ventilation holes in the front which will allow the fans to breathe.

Nanoxia_deep_silence_3_exterieur_panneau

The panels are heavy and equipped with a material very similar to what we find on the Fractal Design R5 (hard and compact) to reduce noise pollution and vibrations, classic but effective!

Nanoxia_deep_silence_3_interieur

Here is the interior of the beast! The layout is very classic, there are cable glands everywhere, 3 cages for removable hard drives / SSDs, noise-canceling foam etc. The build quality is very good here and the chassis exudes solidity. Let’s take a closer look at all of this.

Nanoxia_deep_silence_3_interieur_525

We start with the part dedicated to 5.25 ″ devices, 3 can be installed and all are without tools, it will however be possible to remove the clips without tools and fix everything in the old way with screws if the device is not designed to cover the entire location (such as a rheobus for example, or a card reader).

Nanoxia_deep_silence_3_interieur_hdd

There are a total of 3 cages for the installation of the disks, the top one is removable by removing the screws located at the 5.25 ″ cage, the middle one can be removed without tools thanks to a clip located between the top cage and the bottom one while the latter cannot be removed. As can be seen in the photo, it will be possible to move the middle cage to the left of the lower cage thanks to a system of rails.

Nanoxia_deep_silence_3_interieur_alimentation

The part devoted to the power supply is entitled to preferential treatment with regard to possible noise pollution, in fact there are 4 rubber feet which will allow the power supply to be raised and to isolate it from the box (in case of possible vibrations) as well as foam on the rear wall, Nanoxia clearly does not want her to vibrate the tower!

Nanoxia_deep_silence_3_interieur_equerres_pci

The 7 brackets are fixed with hand screws and are perforated to promote air flow.

Nanoxia_deep_silence_3_interieur_passe_cables

A significant number of rubber grommets are present everywhere, enough to pass the cables where we want and make the assembly as clean as possible!

Nanoxia_deep_silence_3_interieur_dessus

Above and always for the sake of silence, the 2 covers are equipped with foam, and are removable. We also notice that the foam is installed above the cage of 5.25 ″ devices, it does not eat bread!

Nanoxia_deep_silence_3_interieur_ventilateur_arriere
Nanoxia_deep_silence_3_interieur_cable_ventilateur

The fan is the same as the ones at the front, 12 cm for a maximum rotation speed of 1300 RPM, the cable is also sheathed and of very good quality.

Nanoxia_deep_silence_3_interieur_cables_connectique

The connection could not be more classic, but the cables are all sheathed, black in color and very long enough to connect anywhere on the motherboard.

Nanoxia_deep_silence_3_interieur_cables_rheobus

In addition to the classic connectors, there are 6 connectors for 3-pin fans, distributed over 2 rheobus and supplied by a Molex connector.

Nanoxia_deep_silence_3_interieur_arriere

At the rear apart from the plethora of cable glands there is not much to say, everything is very clean and the number of cable glands will be more than enough to make a clean assembly.

Nanoxia_deep_silence_3_interieur_place_range_cables

There is however “only” 1.5 cm for the cables between the back of the motherboard and the side panel, this should be sufficient but you should not be careful not to make too big bundles of cables to be able to close without forcing.

The configuration used during the tests is as follows:

A rather large configuration therefore due to its huge cooler and the 3 slots taken by the graphics card. The Nanoxia Deep Silence 3 will be tested once with the fans at minimum and once at most with only the SSD connected. Another test will take place at least with the Raptor hard drive connected, it being literally hell in terms of its vibrations that will allow to see the effectiveness of the silentblocs.

Nanoxia_deep_silence_3_montage_fini

The assembly of the test configuration in the Nanoxia Deep Silence 3 went very well, like its big brother the Deep Silence 5 despite the smaller internal space, it will be able to accommodate a rather muscular configuration without the slightest problem. On the other hand as I said above the 1.5 cm at the back of the motherboard forced me to force a little to close everything, nothing serious however but you must not do anything with the cables otherwise you will have to unplug them to relocate them.

In order to test the box, I will carry out an OCCT Power Supply test for 30mins and then take the temperatures of the main components such as the processor (average of the 4 cores), the motherboard, the graphics card as well as the hard drive.
Regarding noise pollution, I will proceed as in the file on silent PCs namely 1 statement in front, right, left, rear and above.

The Nanoxia Deep Silence 3 will face the case used for the silent pc backrest, the Corsair Carbide 300R modified for the needs of the same backrest as well as the be quiet! Silent base 800, Cooler Master Silencio 652S, the Fractal Design Define R5, the Aerocool DS200, the NZXT H440 as well as its big brother the Nanoxia Deep Silence 5 rev. B. The choice of boxes is not random, all these boxes are rather silent so the Deep Silence 3 will have a lot to do!

Rest

Nanoxia_deep_silence_3_resultat_repos_temperatures

At rest, the temperatures of the components in the Nanoxia Deep Silence 3 are very good, in the best of all the boxes in the comparison, all specially designed to be silent, I would like to remind you. With 31 ° for the processor, 30 ° for the graphics card and 32 ° for the motherboard in 12V as well as 32 °, 30 ° and 33 ° in 5V the components have absolutely nothing to fear, still happy when the PC is at rest!

Nanoxia_deep_silence_3_resultats_repos_nuisances_sonores

Ambient sound level: 31dB

Once again very good here, with the fans at a minimum the readings do not exceed 34 dB at the rear for 32 dB at the front and above, we are at the level of the best boxes of the comparison once again. When we add the Raptor hard drive on the other hand the sound level increases drastically to reach 35 dB to the right of the box, nothing that does not however make the eardrums explode and it will certainly be very quiet for most people but purists will hear the sounds. vibrations is a certainty.
Once pushed to the maximum, on the other hand, the fans are clearly heard, nothing that is not unpleasant because there is no noise coming from the motors but the box can no longer be considered as silent, there are anyway 2 rheobus to calm their ardor 😉

Nanoxia_deep_silence_3_resultats_repos_pwm

Nothing to report here, as the vast majority of cases in the test, the fans remain at their base RPM, ie 600 RPM for the processor and 500 RPM for the graphics card.

Charge

Nanoxia_deep_silence_3_resultats_charge_temperatures

In load, the case clearly does not disappoint, with a maximum of 70 ° for the graphics card (2 ° more than its big brother Deep Silence 5), 65 ° for the processor and 39 ° for the motherboard with the fans at least. there is no doubt that the Deep Silence 3B will be able to keep the configuration assigned to it cool while remaining discreet. Once the fans are pushed to the maximum the difference is not obvious with only a few degrees of difference, we go from 65 ° to 63 ° for the processor, 70 ° to 66 ° for the graphics card and from 39 ° to 38 ° for the motherboard, the difference is there but not that marked. Quite honestly, given the results, you might as well leave the fans to a minimum!

Nanoxia_deep_silence_3_resultats_charge_nuisances_sonores

Ambient sound level: 31dB

The good results continue here with noise pollution under load really very contained, when the fans are set to 5V all the measurements are content with a maximum of 35 dB even with the raptor installed apart at the rear which displays a maximum of 39 dB, it’s not really annoying unless you have the beast behind the back of the PC, which is very unlikely! Note that as at rest the vibrations of the disc are heard, strangely less than on the Deep Silence 5 rev. B but they are present and will put off the most picky, as usual it will be necessary to pay attention to the choice of the hard disk in a PC oriented silence (as in my file on the silent “gamer” configuration that you can read here).
Once the fans are fully charged, there is no difference between rest and load, the fans in the box making more noise than all the other components, the noise level remains the same.

Nanoxia_deep_silence_3_resultats_charge_pwm

The speed of the fans managed in PWM reflects the good performance of the unit under load, in fact, thanks to the available space and the good air flow, the processor fans go from 880 RPM to 850 RPM respectively from “High” to “Low” and from 640 RPM to 600 RPM for the fans of the graphics card, the results are very good and identical to what we can see with its big brother the Deep Silence 5 rev B.

Nanoxia_deep_silence_3_random

Here we are at the end of this test, what to say about the Nanoxia Deep Silence 3?
After testing an excellent Deep Silence 5, I expect no less from its little brother the Deep Silence 3, which is to say that I am not disappointed! The beast is made to last thanks to its thick materials (but rather heavy case in the end, we have nothing for nothing!), It will hold several generations of configurations without the slightest worry, the build quality is good and the paint very well done.

The Deep Silence 3 is also very well equipped, 2 x rheobus on the front, foam / filters wherever possible, covers on the top if fans are not installed as well as 3 original silent fans.

In terms of performance, it is also very good whether in “Low” or “High” position, the components are very well cooled and silence is required, at the level of the best silent-oriented boxes on the market!
Offered at a price of around € 75 (on the PC-Cooling.de site
here) it is really a competitor of choice for silent boxes on the market, the only problem being its availability in France almost non-existent (for the moment )!

Advantages

  • Silence
