NASA employs crypto and blockchain specialists – According to an announcement posted on LinkedIn on September 20, NASA is hiring crypto and blockchain specialists at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in California. The laboratory is responsible for the construction and operation of planetary robotic spacecraft and for conducting missions on Earth orbit.
Among the qualifications required, NASA listed areas such as big data, machine learning, Internet of Things and cloud computing. Also, experience in cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology are considered a major advantage.
The specialist will work on designing and implementing a program for analyzing complex, large-scale data sets used for research, modeling, data mining and predictive analysis at NASA.
Price fluctuations for Bitcoin

Stratford City Hall has paid 10 BTC ransomware
In April, Stratford City Hall, Ontario, suffered a ransomware attack. The network was infected with a virus that blocked access to data from the computers of the town hall. Even the audit firm Deloitte was involved in assessing security risks.
It turned out that the attacker did not steal confidential information, but only encrypted existing files. Stratford City Hall has decided to pay the 10 BTC reward (which at that time was worth $ 75,000). This, after the insurance company that uses it has decided that it is the best solution for the incident.
Details of the incident have been released only at the request of the Ontario police and insurance company Orr Insurance. Authorities are still investigating the incident to identify the attacker.
CME Group will launch options for Bitcoin futures contracts
CME Group has announced that it has submitted a request to provide options for its Bitcoin futures contracts. The company expects these to become available from the first quarter of next year.
Tim McCourt, global head of CME Group’s alternative investment products, said:
“Based on increased customer demand and strong growth in our Bitcoin futures markets, we believe that launching options will give our customers additional flexibility to trade and hedge their bitcoin price risk. These new products are designed to help professional institutions and traders manage bitcoin exposure on the spot market, as well as to cover Bitcoin futures positions in a regulated trading environment. “
CME also mentioned that, at present, almost 7,000 bitcoin futures contracts are traded on average every day.
