Netherlands to fill 80% gas storage by next week
PARIS, Sep 2 – PRIME. The Netherlands will fill 80% of its gas storage by next week, Climate and Energy Minister Rob Jetten said on Friday.
“We are on track to meet the European target for filling gas storage by November 1. Our storage is expected to be 80% full by next week,” the minister wrote on his Twitter account.
According to him, after that, the Netherlands will continue to fill its strategic storage facilities with gas.
Earlier it was reported that the highest gas price in Europe was established in the Netherlands: the Dutch pay about 28 cents per kilowatt-hour, or 2.76 euros per cubic meter of gas.
A number of city councils in the Netherlands, according to media reports, have asked the government to temporarily exempt them from EU sanctions against Russia due to difficulties in finding alternatives to Russian energy sources.
