New sessions in Internet Explorer 8. No more cookies!

With a new Internet Explorer 8 users will be able to run multiple copies of the browser, completely separate, each in its own session. In the latest version Internet Explorer, Redmond aimed to simplify the work with browser sessions, which allowed IER8 move away from the traditional “split sessions” model. In this context, users should note that IE8 has an additional option on the File menu besides New Window, New Tab, or Copy of a Tab. It is called New Session, and when you use it, it opens a new window. IE8which does not use shared cookies with the parent window.
“Just select New Session from the File menu and a new browser window will open. The new browser window will not share cookies with the parent browser window, and you can log into Hotmail (and most other web applications) as a different user. For command line lovers, you can run iexplore.exe with the -nomerge parameter, ”explained Eric Lawrence, Team Security Program Manager IE.
This behavior does not work for New Window, New Tab, or Duplicate Tab. At the same time, launching multiple copies IE8 from favorites records in different zones of the operating system also occurs in the context of separation of sessions. Only when using the New session option, a new window opens that does not share cookies with the rest of the open copies IE8.
“Proper support for Session Sharing is very important as most web applications are written with it in mind. For example, when a web application opens a popup, it is usually expected to use cookies with the main window to keep the user logged in and preserve their preferences, and so on. Also, when a user uses the Copy Tab command, they rightly expect the new tab to have the same content as the original – shared use of cookies is critical for scripts to work properly, ”explained Lawrence.
