"No problem reaching the recommended price with the Radeon RX 6600 XT"

The pricing at the launch of graphics cards has, to put it mildly, been difficult since the autumn of 2020. We have seen examples from both AMD and Nvidia, which in various ways manipulated the availability of products at recommended prices. Next in line is AMD’s mid-range Radeon RX 6600 XT, which does not seem to be an exception.

In conversations with a partner manufacturer, it is stated that the supply should be “very good” and that there is no reason to sell their base model at a higher price than AMD’s recommended 379 USD, which corresponds to approximately SEK 4,100 including VAT.

In a tour of Swedish retailers, it does not sound as obvious. A dealer we spoke to says that the supply looks surprisingly good, but that they do not see that they can reach the recommended price for any model. Another mentions that they get a few tens of each model in stock, but that they have not yet received final pricing.

A third retailer tells of hundreds of graphics cards in stock and that the prices are not set in stone. At the same time, they were left with an opening for a single model to be sold at AMD’s recommended price, but that they have not yet received any information about this. It is not uncommon for final prices to be nailed very close to a launch, often on the same day.

What SweClockers has come up with is that a specific model of the Radeon RX 6600 XT will be subsidized to reach AMD’s recommended price of approximately SEK 4,100. For those retailers who do not have access to the specific model, it looks gloomier as expected.

The AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT will be launched the day after tomorrow the 11th of August at 15:00 and then we will get clarity in both availability and price.
