Noctua Announces List of AM4 Compatible AM5 CPU Coolers

The popular brand Noctua announced a list of AM4 CPU Coolers that will be compatible with AM5. This is very good news, because it seems that the compatibility is with almost all models.

With the new generation socket AM5, AMD abandons the pin grid array (PGA) and goes to the land grid array (LGA) in its high-end chips. However, moving to a new socket does not mean that new CPU Coolers are needed.

Below is the full announcement on Noctua’s FAQ page regarding support for AM4 C CPUs on AM5. We also leave you a link to the official page where you can see the compatibility of the CPU Coolers for yourself here.

Which Noctua CPU coolers are compatible with AMD AM5?

“AM5 (LGA 1718) is AMD’s next socket for its next generation of Ryzen 7000 (Zen 4) series processors.

In short, all Noctua AM4-capable heatsinks and mounting kits are compatible with the AM5 socket, except for the NH-L9a-AM4 and NM-AM4-L9aL9i.

All Noctua AM4 mounts, except for the NH-L9a-AM4 and NM-AM4-L9aL9i, connect to the standard AM4 socket backplate threads. Since the backplate and its holes are identical on AM4 and AM5, our AM4 brackets that connect to the standard AMD backplate are also AM5 compatible.

This means that all SE-AM4 models, as well as all Noctua multisocket coolers purchased since 01/2019, are already compatible with the AM5 socket.

What do you think about almost all Noctua AM4 CPU Coolers being AM5 compatible?
