After a long wait, the Geforce GTX 1080 was launched in late May and was followed by the GTX 1070 in early June. The shift to 16 nanometers and a new architecture has created a huge demand among avid technology enthusiasts, something that has led to low availability of both graphics cards.
During an inventory inspection at the major retailers, individual copies of both graphics cards are glimpsed, where mainly Nvidia’s reference design Founder’s Edition is the alternative that is available. It is worse for tailor-made models from partner manufacturers, which disappear from store shelves as soon as they are added.
SweClockers has been in constant contact with several of Nvidia’s partner manufacturers, all of which claim that it will be a while before both the Geforce GTX 1080 and the GTX 1070 begin to seriously fill the storage shelves. At present, supply is not expected to meet demand until August or September.

It is often speculated that the lack of Geforce GTX 1080 is attributed to the fact that Nvidia cannot produce enough memory circuits of the fresh type GDDR5X, something that is rejected. Instead, the problem should be that partner manufacturers do not get enough graphics chips from Nvidia, where the scaled-down variant of GP104 for GTX 1070 should be extra difficult to get hold of.
Those who want to take part in Nvidia’s latest generation graphics card before the autumn can in other words keep a watchful eye on when the models come into stock, or place an order and hope to take part in the next delivery.
