Nvidia Geforce GTX 1650 with GDDR6 on input – the confusion continues

From a few Geforce RTX models, Nvidia’s architecture Turing has expanded considerably. In addition to the standard models, there are graphics cards with the additions Ti and Super at the end. These now seem to be joined by a new Geforce GTX 1650 without a suffix and with significantly faster graphics memory than the original variant.

MSI Geforce GTX 1650 with GDDR6:

  • MSI Geforce GTX 1650 D6 GAMING X

  • MSI Geforce GTX 1650 D6 GAMING

  • MSI Geforce GTX 1650 D6 VENTUS XS OC

  • MSI Geforce GTX 1650 D6 VENTUS XS

  • MSI Geforce GTX 1650 D6 AERO ITX OC

  • MSI Geforce GTX 1650 D6 AERO ITX

  • MSI Geforce GTX 1650 D6T LP OC

  • MSI Geforce GTX 1650 D6T LP

Data comes from a listing at the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC), which shows no less than seven new Geforce GTX 1650 from MSI. New here is precisely that they are all equipped with GDDR6 memory, which should give a substantial increase in bandwidth compared to the original GTX 1650 with GDDR5.

Nvidia Geforce GTX 1650 is currently based on the graphics circuit TU117, which has a memory bus with a width of 128 bits. A shift to faster GDDR6 memory at an efficient clock frequency of 12,000 MHz would provide a bandwidth of 192 GB / s, as much as 50 percent over the 128 GB / s available in today’s GTX 1650.

Interesting in this context is that the Geforce GTX 1660 got the extension “Super” by taking the step up from GDDR5 to GDDR6, while the remaining specifications were left untouched. In the SweClockers tests, the new GTX 1660 Super received a performance increase of 10 percent compared to the standard variant.

Why the new variant of the Geforce GTX 1650 with GDDR6 will be without a suffix can only be speculated. A probable scenario is that the industry as a whole is shifting production from GDDR5 to GDDR6, which has made the latter technology more economical than with the introduction of GTX 1650 spring 2019.
