A new graphics card with the architecture Ampere is on the doorstep. This is the Geforce RTX 3060, a long-awaited addition for many as it occupies the middle class and the price range of SEK 3,000–4,000. However, the autumn has shown that the recommended prices for graphics cards are as common as unicorns, but now it looks like at least hundreds at each retailer will be available at the right price.
The Proshop online store is among the first to start listing the Geforce RTX 3060 and more specifically it is about Asus’ entry-level variant Dual. The price for graphics cards is stated here at SEK 3,560 including VAT, which is even slightly lower than Nvidia’s recommended SEK 3,650. However, it is not unreasonable that Proshop accidentally reversed the numbers 5 and 6.
The catch is that the price will be limited to the first 230 copies sold. What the price for the model lands on afterwards is not clear, but other listings at Proshop suggest that a surcharge of up to SEK 1,500 or more is a probable outcome. As an example, MSI’s entry-level variants Ventus 2X and Ventus 3X are listed, which are listed for SEK 4,890 and SEK 5,190, respectively.

The new intermediate class is based on the new graphics circuit GA106 and has 3,584 CUDA cores with a base frequency of 1,320 MHz and boost at 1,777 MHz. This includes a 192-bit memory bus and 12 GB of GDDR6 memory with an effective clock frequency of 15,000 MHz, for a theoretical bandwidth of 360 GB / s. The performance of the model is expected to be well above the RTX 2060 Super, especially with ray tracing the surcharge.
For those who are curious about Nvidia’s Geforce RTX 3060, the launch will take place tomorrow, February 25 at 15:00. The sales start for the new middle class will not take place until three hours later at 18:00.
