Nvidia Geforce RTX 3090 is stated to have prices from just over SEK 17,000

On the Chinese forum Chiphell, user Alienxzy says he has come across information about the pricing of Nvidia’s upcoming performance card Geforce RTX 3090, which is expected to be launched in September this year.

The user has come across information about three models from the manufacturer Colorful’s series Vulcan X, Vulcan X OC and Neptune whose prices are stated at 12,000, 12,999 and 13,999 Chinese yuan respectively. These prices correspond to approximately SEK 17,100, 18,500 and SEK 19,900, including VAT.

Some confusion has arisen in the American media as American prices are stated excluding VAT, while Chinese, or Swedish for that matter, are stated including VAT. Among other things, Tech Powerup reports that the cards may cost $ 2,000, but excluding Chinese VAT, the price would rather be equivalent to $ 1,750.

The Chiphell user also mentions that this is an “introductory price”, which may indicate that Nvidia intends to use a tactic where the first quantities are sold at a lower price. In that case, it would be similar to the strategy AMD applied with the Radeon Vega series, where very small volumes were made available for low prices at individual retailers at launch.

Nvidia is arranging a Geforce-focused event on September 1 at 18:00 Swedish time, where the graphics cards in the Geforce RTX 3000 series are expected to be unveiled.

How do you see the Ampere generation’s flagship starting at SEK 17,000? Outrageously expensive, much as expected or even lower than you thought?
