Nvidia is accused of anti-competitive business practices

Recently, Nvidia introduced what they call the Geforce Partner Program, which is a collaborative program for Nvidia’s various partners. According to the company itself, it should provide benefits for both manufacturers and customers, including where the latter receive guaranteed quality of the products they buy.

However, HardOCP has taken a closer look at the program and believes that it is instead restrictive of competition. According to the manufacturers they spoke to, the Geforce Partner Program will have many negative consequences, as it will, among other things, limit customers’ choices.

The reason is that partner manufacturers that join the program are limited to using and manufacturing graphics cards from Nvidia. The companies that choose to participate are also said to receive many benefits, such as the opportunity to bundle products with games, early access to graphics circuits and money to market the products.

According to information, Nvidia also downgrades manufacturers who are not part of the program when it comes to allocating graphics circuits. The agreement is similar to the one Intel was convicted of in 2009, where the EU stated that the company gave manufacturers benefits and discounts if they only used Intel processors. Nvidia has not yet commented on the information, which is currently unconfirmed.
