Nvidia is accused of guerrilla marketing – spreading rumors on forums and blogs

The battle between AMD and Nvidia is escalating in the new year. The red team is first out with a new generation of graphics cards in 28 nanometers and in a couple of months Nvidia will respond with Geforce Kepler, who will, among other things, take on the current performance king Radeon HD 7970.

However, the duel is not just about technology and performance figures. Chinese hardware site Chiphell accuses Nvidia of using guerrilla tactics in an attempt to influence public opinion. Administrators claim that a number of user accounts on the Chinese forum have been used by people associated with Nvidia to spread rumors about Kepler’s excellence and AMD’s weaknesses.

Among other things, it has been said that the mid-range Kepler, also known as the GK104, performs better than AMD’s flagship Radeon HD 7970 and will only cost 300 USD, corresponding to approximately 2,500 kronor including VAT. These rumors have since spread around the world on forums, blogs and among less careful hardware sites.
