Nvidia is said to unveil “Ampere” on 9 September

On August 20, 2018, Nvidia introduced the graphics architecture “Turing”, where dedicated hardware for ray tracing in real time, the Geforce RTX 2000 unveiling was the most noticed feature. For almost two years, the architecture has been the latest in the consumer market, but for data centers, the graphics giant has lifted the veil for “Ampere”, which is also underway for consumer cards.

A wide range of rumors about the specifications and performance of the consumer-oriented Geforce RTX 3000 series have emerged in recent months, along with photos of a cooling solution that can take place on the Geforce RTX 3080. The family is said to make its debut during the year, but the exact launch date is shrouded in dim. Gamersnexus now explains that the official unveiling will take place on 9 September.

The information comes from talks with Nvidia’s partner manufacturers, who will, however, leave room for a few days ahead or backwards from 9 September. The fact that there is talk of an unveiling suggests that in-store availability is a bit further into the future, which leaves room for the rumor of September 17 as the launch date for the Geforce RTX 3090 to be true.

Data also indicate that Nvidia is reusing the strategy from the Turing launch, where the most powerful cards are released first and that the family is gradually expanded downwards in price and performance class. How the cards position themselves in terms of price is a detail that in the many leaks shines with its absence, and Gamersnexus concludes that the partner manufacturers are also floating in uncertainty on that point.

The presentation is expected to be a live story and Nvidia will probably reveal information about the time and streaming platforms a few weeks before the event.
