Nvidia launches Geforce “Pascal” for laptops for Gamescom

The summer of 2016 is without a doubt one of the more eventful periods from Nvidia in many years. Following the launch of the Geforce GTX 1080 at the end of May, the company has shortly released the GTX 1070 and GTX 1060, which will soon be joined by the Titan X, and now the Pascal architecture for laptops is also on the horizon.

The industry magazine Digitimes reports that Nvidia is expected to release Pascal for laptops in time for this year’s Gamescom, which takes place on August 17-21 in Germany. For the event, partner manufacturers Asus, MSI, Gigabyte and Clevo, among others, are expected to showcase new designs with the new Geforce series of mobile graphics cards.

The report also strengthens information that Nvidia will no longer use the suffix “M” to differentiate laptops from desktop graphics cards. The first to be released will be the trio Geforce GTX 1080, GTX 1070 and GTX 1060, which according to the report will have similar or even the same performance as their stationary counterparts.
