Initiatives that show that gaming content works best with Nvidia’s products are nothing new, charging screens such as “Runs Better With Geforce” and “The Way It Meant To Be Played” are common. Now the company is investing in a similar initiative for virtual reality.
The novelty is classified as GTX VR Ready Program and is a classification campaign that will be applied to components capable of driving VR content in a good way. Nvidia has also previously presented a basic set of system requirements for running VR content.
Basic system requirements
Basic system requirements | |
---|---|
Stationary graphics card | Geforce GTX 970 or better |
Mobile graphics card | Geforce GTX 980 or better |
Processor | Intel Core i5-4590 or better |
Primary minne | 8 GB RAM or more |
Connections | 2 x USB 3.0 ports and HDMI 1.3 |
Operating system | Windows 7 SP1 or later |
In addition, Nvidia will develop labels that retailers can use to inform consumers that the hardware meets the requirements. The press release does not mention a launch hatch for the GTX VR Ready Program, but it will probably be available relatively immediately for companies that will build and sell VR packages in the spring.
