Nvidia prepares an RTX 3050 model based on GA107, it will consume 15W less than the current version

When NVIDIA released the GeForce RTX 3050 “Ampere” based on the GA106 chipset with specs that could work just fine with the smaller GA107 chipset, we knew the company would eventually start making RTX 3050 graphics cards with the smaller chip, and they did. .

Igor’s Lab reports that GA107-based RTX 3050 cards come with a TDP of 115 W, which is about 11 percent lower than GA106-based cards, which is 130 W.

Igor points out that the GA106 and GA107 GPUs are pin compatible, which means graphics card partners don’t have to make any design changes, they’ll just change the chipset and put in a new compatible BIOS.

There is no difference in specs between the two cards, they both feature 2560 CUDA cores across 20 streaming multiprocessors, 80 Tensor cores, 20 RT cores, and a 128-bit wide GDDR6 memory interface, with 8GB of memory running at a data rate of 14 Gbps.

Igor has not confirmed when NVIDIA will start offering this new variant of RTX 3050since this card may be the model with the best features for the average gamer and the redemption of the RTX 30 series.

From what we could see the price of this card has been gradually coming down since its launch and if it manages to reach its launch price at some point in the future, especially once the new variant is available, we may have the new GTX 1060.
