Nvidia registers the trademark Geforce RTX – may become the name for the upcoming graphics card series

The graphics architecture Pascal has been relevant in the consumer context for more than two years, and details about Nvidia’s upcoming graphics cards are largely obscured. When it comes to architecture, it can be Turing, Ampere or Volta, while the name of the family can be Geforce GTX 1100 or GTX 2000 series.

Nvidia is now said to have registered Turing as a trademark, which is the first concrete proof that the company develops software or hardware with the name. In addition, Quadro RTX and Geforce RTX were also registered, where the suffix refers to the company’s technology for ray tracing (Swedish radiation tracking), which was presented earlier this year.

The prefix “Geforce GTX” has been used for several years for Nvidia’s consumer-oriented graphics cards, with the Geforce GTX 1000 series being the latest. Now, among others, Videocardz is speculating that Quadro RTX and Geforce RTX may instead become part of the name for some of the company’s upcoming products, unless it is software or technology.

There is much to suggest that the next generation of graphics cards will be launched soon, and the manufacturer Galax recently announced that these will be available in September. Ahead of this year’s edition of Gamescom, Nvidia has promised a surprise with a Geforce connection, but whether it is about new graphics cards or not remains to be seen.
