Nvidia unveils Geforce RTX Super on July 2

Towards the end of the summer of 2018, Nvidia replaced the aging graphics architecture Pascal with the new Turing, in connection with the unveiling of three powerful models in the Geforce RTX 2000 family. Since then, the flagship Titan RTX card has been launched, which has been gradually joined by the Geforce RTX 2060 and GTX 1600 series, native to the lower price and performance segments.

On July 7, it’s time for AMD’s graphics division to launch the Navi graphics architecture through the Radeon RX 5700 XT and RX 5700 graphics cards, where the former will offer better gaming performance than the Geforce RTX 2070. Nvidia will in turn face the Radeon RX 5000 family with updated graphics cards with the suffix “Super”. Videocardz now reports that the Geforce RTX Super series will be unveiled on July 2.

In mid-June, alleged specifications were presented for three models to be released in Super design, with Igor Wallossek from German Tom’s Hardware responsible for the information. According to this, Geforce RTX 2080, RTX 2070 and RTX 2060 must all be equipped with several CUDA cores. Specifically, the increase will be 128 CUDA cores for Geforce RTX 2080, while 256 extra CUDA cores will be added for other cards.

In addition, the graphics memory for the Geforce RTX 2060 is redesigned and the amount of memory increases from 6 to 8 GB GDDR6, while the memory bus is widened from 192 to 256 bits. This means that the theoretical memory bandwidth is in line with the Geforce RTX 2070 and RTX 2080. The super model of the latter should also see an increased bandwidth, which is made possible by raising the memory frequency from 14,000 to 16,000 MHz.

So far, Nvidia has not presented any official data for Geforce RTX Super, but Videocardz believes that Nvidia will present the three graphics cards on July 2. In addition, it is written that tests of the two less powerful models will be available on the same day, but whether the cards will be released in trade in connection with this is shrouded in obscurity.

Independent testing of the Geforce RTX 2080 Super is said to be delayed until later in July, but no date has yet been set. In addition, it is mentioned that tests of third-party models for Geforce RTX 2070 and RTX 2060 will also be released later, more specifically on 9 July. Finally, price information for the trio will be announced later in week 26, but whether the information is correct remains to be seen.
