Nvidia updates the Geforce GTX 590 with new more powerful coils

When Nvidia launched the Geforce GTX 590 with dual GF110 at the end of March, SweClocker’s review was about more than high performance. SweClocker’s video clip where a “burning” graphics card was captured on film has been shown over 400,000 times and caused a lot of uproar, not least among dissatisfied enthusiasts who have literally seen the overclocking plans go up in smoke.

Nvidia’s first reaction was to publish new drivers with more conservative overheating protection settings. Despite this, reports of prematurely dead graphics cards continued to flow in, prompting numerous analyzes of defective design and undersized components.

Now VR-Zone reports that Nvidia plans to fix the problem once and for all with a new revision of the Geforce GTX 590 where the coils are upgraded to more powerful models. The updated circuit boards are marked with revision number “699-11020-005-502“and also requires that the heat spreader and possibly the steam chamber coolers be adapted for the new components.

The new revision of the Geforce GTX 590 is said to appear in June. More details will probably be revealed in the coming week.
