Nvidia's Geforce RTX 2060 in the offing - gets 6 GB GDDR6

For those who have longed for a graphics card in the Geforce RTX series at a more affordable price, the wait seems to be over soon. On Twitter publishes Andreas Schilling, editor of German Hardwareluxx, marketing material for RTX 2060 that can be expected to be Nvidia’s major volume seller in the series.

In addition, previous information is confirmed that the Nvidia Geforce RTX 2060, like its predecessor, is equipped with 6 GB of graphics memory. At the same time, the graphics card takes the step up from GDDR5 to GDDR6, which with a 192-bit memory bus gives a theoretical bandwidth of 336 GB / s – 75 percent higher than 192 GB / s for GTX 1060.

In terms of the remaining specifications, nothing has been confirmed, but it is speculated that the Geforce RTX 2060, like the RTX 2070, will be built around the TU106 graphics circuit. In addition to a narrower memory bus, it is said that 6 of 36 SM clusters are shut down, which would result in 1,920 CUDA cores instead of 2,304 in RTX 2070.

In terms of performance, the Geforce RTX 2060 is expected to take the same performance class as a GTX 1070 at a similar price. A unveiling is said to take place during the second week of January, which probably means that it will take place in connection with the electronics fair Consumer Electronics Show (CES).
