Powercolor leaks Radeon RX 6700 – with 6 GB of memory

Last week, AMD launched its first graphics card in the upper middle class, the Radeon RX 6700 XT, for modest amounts of pomp and circumstance. With the Navi 22 circuit under the hood and 12 GB of GDDR6-type memory connected via a 192-bit wide memory bus, AMD promised performance in class with the Geforce RTX 3070. SweClocker’s performance tests proved to be partially acceptable, but at resolutions of 1440p and higher, the RX 6700 XT it’s hot on the ears.

The resolution 1440p, 2,560 × 1,440 pixels, was what AMD themselves thought the new graphics card was optimal for – and the figure is now repeated on leaked product images signed Powercolor representing the next Navi 22 combatant Radeon RX 6700. In addition to product images on RX, Techpowerup has 6700 Fighter also noted that AMD’s latest drivers, Radeon Software Adrenalin 21.3.1, support the “RX 6700 Series” without specifically mentioning the RX 6700 XT.

In addition to references to gaming in the 1440P resolution, the box also announces the memory amount of the card – 6 GB. The memory bus thus remains 192 bits wide, which should mean 96 MB of cache memory in the form of Infinity Cache. The differences will instead probably be at silicon level, where fewer calculation units are activated in the RX 6700, possibly also the clock frequencies will be turned down for increased energy efficiency.

The big question mark regarding the XT-free RX 6700 instead applies to the amount of memory. Videocardz has recently reported on listings at EEC with model names from Asus that confirmed the memory amount of 12 GB. The 6 GB memory capacity of Powercolor cards can thus be the result of a last-minute refurnishing – or a sign that the Radeon RX 6700 will be sold in two different versions with 6 and 12 GB GDDR6 memory respectively.

We will be aware of what it is about in the near future. AMD has not yet announced the launch date for the Radeon RX 6700, but as manufacturers such as Powercolor are in the starting blocks, an introduction to the market is not far off.
