Pressure in damaged Nord Stream lines stabilized

MOSCOW, 3 Oct — PRIME. The pressure in the threads of the Nord Stream gas pipeline system has returned to normal, Gazprom said.

“The pressure in line A of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline and both lines of the Nord Stream 1 gas pipeline stabilized after the breaks, gas leaks stopped,” the Russian company’s telegram channel says.

Gas evacuation and depressurization work is still going on in the intact line B of Nord Stream 2. After that, experts will assess the condition of the pipe, as well as reduce potential environmental risks in the future. Gas will be re-injected into the string if, after checking the integrity of the system, a decision is made to start pumping gas through it, Gazprom noted.

Gas leaks on two strings of Nord Stream and one string of Nord Stream 2 were found on September 26 in the Baltic Sea. According to Swedish seismologists, powerful underwater explosions were recorded in the emergency area the day before.

Germany, Denmark and Sweden did not rule out that the incidents could have been the result of targeted sabotage.
