Putin called Russia the leading economic partner of Kyrgyzstan

MOSCOW, 15 Sep — PRIME. Russia remains the leading trade and economic partner of Kyrgyzstan, in 2021 the trade turnover between the countries increased by 46.6%, in the first five months of 2022 – by 30%. This was stated by Russian leader Vladimir Putin.

“Russia remains a leading trade and economic partner (Kyrgyzstan – ed.), Last year we had a noticeable increase in trade turnover, and this year it is growing, and at a very good pace. Last year it grew by 46.6%, and this year for the first five months – another 30%. This is a very good indicator,” the Russian president said during a meeting with his Kyrgyz counterpart Sadyr Zhaparov on the sidelines of the SCO summit.

According to him, Russia continues to provide economic support to Kyrgyzstan, in 2021 assistance amounted to $20 million, in 2022 – $1.5 million. Moscow is also ready to provide technical assistance in the field of response to emergencies and natural disasters.

In addition, Russia “is the largest supplier of energy resources to Kyrgyzstan,” Putin recalled, adding that exports are carried out on a preferential duty-free basis at Zhaparov’s request.
