Radeon HD 7790 “Bonaire” appears in test database

AMD made it clear to the media that today’s graphics card would be at the center for most of the year and that no new graphics architecture is underway until the end of 2013. However, the company revealed that at least one new graphics circuit is underway, however with the Graphics Core Next architecture just as today’s HD 7000 series.

The performance database in CLBenchmark reveals the “graphics card” Saturn (Swedish: Saturnus), a name in accordance with the company’s mobile graphics card family Solar Systems for laptops. On closer inspection, it is about Bonaire, a graphics circuit SweClockers previously heard will be placed between today’s Cape Verde and Pitcairn in the Radeon HD 7700 and Radeon HD 7800 series respectively.

According to the database, the graphics circuit comes with 12 computing units for a total of 768 stream processors and a clock frequency of 1,075 MHz. However, it is possible that the result is produced with an overclocked graphics card. Related to this, AMD should advise partners against launching factory overclocked variants of the graphics card, as it may end up too close to the Radeon HD 7850 in performance.

The graphics memory consists of 2 GB GDDR5, however, it is unclear whether the memory bus is 128-bit or 256-bit, although the former is most likely. Bonaire will reportedly be used in the Radeon HD 7790, which is expected to appear in April.
