With no new generation of graphics cards in sight, both AMD and Nvidia are working to complement the existing series. The closest are two models in the lower middle class: Radeon HD 7790 and a heated variant of the Geforce GTX 650 Ti.

AMD is first out and has already started sending out test copies to manufacturers and media. The Radeon HD 7790 is based on the “Bonaire” graphics processor, which is primarily for laptops, but is now also used in separate graphics cards.
The new middle class contains 768 stream processors, 128-bit memory bus and 1 or 2 GB of memory. Sapphire’s Dual-X OC version features a 1,075 MHz GPU and 6.4 GHz GDDR5 memory. In terms of performance, the model thus ends up somewhere in between the Radeon HD 7770 GHz Edition and the Radeon HD 7850.
The circuit board itself measures 21.5 centimeters and is equipped with a 6-pin PCI Express connector, which gives access to a maximum power output of 150 W. Otherwise you can see connections for two DVI, an HDMI and Displayport and support for all common features, including AMD HD3D and Eyefinity.
The Radeon HD 7790 is expected to appear sometime in the coming weeks, probably in late March or early April. The model is intended for the price range around SEK 1,200 including VAT.
