Radeon R9 290X from partner manufacturers at best before the turn of the year – lack of graphics card

Over the past month, AMD has rolled out a range of graphics cards in the new Radeon 200 series. Despite the model names, only the Radeon R9 290 and 290X are based on new circuits, the rest are in practice older models in a new design. Now partner manufacturers state that the new graphics processor Hawaii is in short supply.

First of all, the reference model of the Radeon R9 290X is virtually sold out at most retailers. Individual deliveries are expected to arrive within the next few weeks, but these are not major volumes. This also applies to the main supplier PC Partner with the subsidiary Sapphire.

The lack of graphics processors also affects the future prospects for custom models. To date, no partner manufacturers have announced their own models and the reason is that AMD has not yet delivered circuits. At best, individual graphics cards can find out in December, but it will probably take until the beginning of next year before deliveries start in earnest.

The situation is the same even when it comes to the scaled-down Radeon R9 290. Here, the manufacturers say that some deliveries are on the way, but that there is still a shortage of graphics processors and that some tailor-made models are not yet in the works. In other words, it will be a while before the store shelves are well stocked.
