Gigabyte makes the Geforce GTX 780 GHz Edition

After many ifs and buts, the complete version of the graphics processor Nvidia GK110 is finally on its way to the consumer market in the form of the Geforce GTX 780 Ti, but that does not mean that today’s Geforce GTX 780 is forgotten. Gigabyte scares new life into the model with the new GHz Edition, where the main number is record-high clock frequencies.

The new graphics card is based just like previous models on the GK110 with 2,304 CUDA cores, 384-bit memory bus and 3 GB of GDDR5 memory. Gigabyte, on the other hand, squeezes in with significantly higher clock frequencies than normal, which should result in better performance than the Geforce GTX Titan and also be enough to challenge the upcoming GTX 780 Ti.

The graphics processor’s clock frequencies amount to as much as 1,019 and 1,071 MHz at Base and Boost, respectively. It can be compared to the 863 and 900 MHz reference models. The memory frequency, on the other hand, remains at the everyday 6,008 MHz GDDR5.

This is accompanied by the Windforce radiator with three fans, heat conduction pipes and a metal back plate, which must be able to dissipate 450 W of heat. The circuit board is being upgraded to an 8-phase power supply and Gigabyte is also adding the overclocking tool OC Guru 11.

The Gigabyte Geforce GTX 780 GHz Edition will be on sale within about a week at the recommended price of SEK 4,890 including VAT.
