Radeon RX 6400 also arrives on the retail market: $ 159 for the small one from AMD

After announcing it as a model aimed at the OEM world, namely that of pre-assembled PCs, AMD has decided to bring the Radeon RX 6400. This is the slowest solution in the architecture-based AMD offering RDNA 2. The heart of this video card is a GPU Navi 24 produced at 6 nanometers like the Radeon RX 6500 XT, but with a number of units stream processor active even lower: 768 against 1024.

The Radeon RX 6400 comes with reference frequencies equal to 1923 MHz for the Base Clock, 2039 MHz for the Game Clock and 2321 MHz for Boost Clock. At the moment there are no overclocked models on the market. To accompany the GPU we find 4GB of 16Gbps GDDR6 memory on a 64-bit bus for a bandwidth of up to 128 GB / s.

The features of this video, however limited by a PCIe 4.0 x4 interface which reduces its performance if it is installed on PCI Express 3.0 platforms, mean that the models on the market (all custom) do not require an additional power connector: the 53W of TBP only makes up for the PCI Express interface (75W). Like its big sister Radeon RX 6500 XT, the does not support 4K H.264 encoding, H265 / HEVC encoding and AV1 decoding.

ASRock, Sapphire, PowerColor, XFX, MSI and Gigabyte presented small models, which can also be combined with mini-ITX computers. In terms of performance, this RX 6400 should rank above NVIDIA’s GeForce GTX 1650, at least according to a slide released by AMD.

As for the price, the Radeon RX 6400 ranks at $ 159 tax free, $ 40 less than the Radeon RX 6500 XT.
