It’s interesting how many people learned the basics of 3D animation with the Windows 3D Movie Maker app that Microsoft added to Windows 95 in 1995. Today, however, not about the educational value of this app, but the fact that twenty-seven years after the first release of the program, Microsoft made it available as an open-source code on GitHub at the request of the Twitter user @Foone.

However, we shouldn’t treat this as just a curiosity, because chances are that now programmers from all over the world will start rewriting Windows 3D Movie Maker to be more modern and run on newer systems so that it continues to teach the youngest animations. In its original version, this program allows you to create an anonymous 3D movie in the style of 90s graphics.

Up to 40 different characters can take part in this movie, and they are assigned different actions by the creators in the pre-rendered scenes. You can add various objects to them, or even an audio track using, for example, your own microphone.
