How to connect cell phone to TV

Sometimes, the phone screen is not big enough to view photos and videos or to play games. Connecting mobile phone to TV can be a quick and easy solution. I tested a number of solutions using Apple, LG, Samsung and Google phones as well as Samsung and LG TVs and various streaming devices. Here are the methods that work best for connecting mobile to TV for each model combination.

How to connect iPhone to TV

The easiest way to connect iPhone to TV is to do it wirelessly. To do this, you will need a TV that supports the latest version of AirPlay, AirPlay 2. How to connect the phone to the TV

How you connect your Android phone to the TV depends on both the brand of phone and the TV you own. Android phones can wirelessly connect to recent TVs if they are on the same WiFi network e support the same Wi-Fi-based standards. Here is connecting phone to TV on the most famous brands.

• How to connect phone to Samsung TV. Use the Screen Mirroring setting on your TV and the SmartThings app on your phone to stream photos and videos. • TCL TV: Use the Roku app for Roku TV models or the Google Home app for Android TV models to cast photos and videos. You may also be able to connect Android phone to TV with an HDMI cable. Newer Android phones have USB-C ports, and some (but not all) of these phones’ USB-C ports support HDMI output. Called “HDMI Alt Mode”, you will find this feature on select models (usually the high-end models) from some manufacturers. For example, the latest Samsung Galaxy S and Note phones support HDMI output. Check with your phone manufacturer if your smartphone supports HDMI output.

If the image looks low resolution when plugged in, try another HDMI port. If your phone has a desktop mode, like Samsung DeX, you’ll want to make sure you’ve selected screen mirroring instead of desktop mode.
