As incredible as it may sound, Android Lollipop 5.0 for the Samsung Galaxy S3 mini is now available for download as a .ZIP file (ROM).
Not even the latest generation Android phones have received this version of Android yet, so obviously this is not an official thing. This is the work of independent developers who have taken the Android Lollipop base code published by Google (AOSP) and adapted it to work on the S3 mini.
This ROM is in its initial phase of development (Alpha). This means that, although it runs well in general terms and according to the developers Maclaw and marcin1147, there are some things that are not working yet, such as the camera, the audio, the phone, the SMS or the 3G. To this must be added other failures that may not yet have been detected. Google Apps for this version of Android are not yet available.
To install this Android 5.0 Lollipop ROM on your S3 mini, the developers recommend that you have TWRP custom recovery installed. Remember to make a full backup of your phone or nandroid backup before proceeding. You can download the Android ROM Lollipop 5 for the SIII mini here. Choose “Samsung Galaxy S3 mini” from the drop-down options drawer on the left. On the right side choose “Android Open Source Project”. It will appear below Lollipop 5.0 (AOSP) 2014/11/06. On the right, verify that the “recovery” box is selected and click on “download” to download. It is compatible with models i8190, i8190L Y i8190N.
This ROM will surely be in constant development and new versions of it should be published at the link mentioned above. My recommendation would be to wait a bit for a better version with fewer bugs to be released before trying it.
