MOSCOW, 14 Sep — PRIME. Within two weeks, all Romanian ministries must take steps to replace inefficient lighting fixtures in state institutions, Prime Minister Nicolae Chuca said.
“I ask that these opportunities materialize in measures at the level of each ministry, which will be presented at a government meeting within two weeks. I want this plan to be presented at the government level and so that each ministry can take its own measures,” he ordered at a government meeting.
The Prime Minister expressed his hope that Romania could become an example in terms of reducing energy at the level of public institutions.
Earlier, the European Commissioner for the Internal Market, Thierry Breton, said that the European authorities recommend countries to reduce energy consumption by five percent during peak hours in the winter, and the excess profits of energy companies should go to help the population. Romanian Energy Minister Virgil Popescu noted that for this state institution, inefficient lighting fixtures can be replaced, which will allow significant savings.
