Sapphire Radeon HD 6950 Toxic is “the world’s fastest 6950”

While AMD and Nvidia are filing on the next generation, partner manufacturers are releasing a steady stream of new variants in the existing Radeon HD 6000 and Geforce 500 series, respectively. The latest is Sapphire, which presents the new Radeon HD 6950 Toxic Edition with unusually high clock frequencies.

The newcomer is based on the graphics processor Cayman Pro with 1,408 stream processors and 2 GB of memory on a 256-bit memory bus. Sapphire squeezes out 880 MHz GPU and 5,200 MHz GDDR5, which can be compared to the reference model’s 800 and 5,000 MHz respectively.

More specifications are digital power control, Dual Bios, power supply via 6 + 8 pins PCI Express and support for the overclocking program Sapphire Trixx. There are also a total of five video outputs: two DVI, one HDMI 1.4 and two Mini Displayport.

The price is still unknown.
