SIX invests in Omniex crypto-trading platform

The owner of the Swiss national stock exchange, SIX, signed a partnership with Omniex, a startup that offers a digital asset trading platform dedicated to institutional investors.

The Swiss SIX continues its cryptocurrency excursion with a investment, the amount of which has not been disclosed, in Omniex, a startup specialized in this field and based in the United States.

Founded in San Francisco in 2017, Omniex has developed a platform designed for trading digital assets and cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin. The platform notably offers connectivity with crypto-exchanges and OTC brokers "from around the world" as well as sophisticated algorithmic solutions.

As part of this operation, the two companies signed a partnership, which aims to provide a gateway to crypto-scholarships and brokers connected to the start-up for SIX and its customers.

The swiss market leads the other major financial markets in adopting regulations that support digital asset trading. With SIX, we aim to offer an end-to-end solution for trading and settlement including SIX Digital Exchange (SDX), ”Commented Hu Liang, CEO-co-founder Omniex.

SIX Group unveiled its digital asset trading platform project SIX Digital Exchange (SDX) in 2018 and launched a first prototype last year.

We see a growing need in the market to access crypto-currencies. Our new collaboration will provide a standardized and secure gateway via SIX as a trusted partner in the financial sector. With SDX as a digital exchange infrastructure under development, the collaboration with Omniex will provide the front end to customers, both for existing cryptocurrencies, and in the future for assets listed on SDX, ”added Thomas Zeeb, Exchange Manager at SIX.

Last October, the Swiss National Bank and SIX have launched a proof of concept aimed at exploring technological options that could make a central bank digital currency compatible with trading and settlement of tokenized assets.
