“This government has had to face absolutely unprecedented situations like a pandemic, the worst pandemic in the last 100 years, only the zombie invasion was missing,” he said.
In addition, it is noted that Spain is faced with an acute problem of widespread price increases. According to the National Institute of Statistics (INE), consumer inflation in the country accelerated to 10.7% in July, having a significant impact on the economic situation of citizens. It is emphasized that the main factor in the rise in prices in Spain was electricity, which has risen in price by 49.4% over the past 12 months.
Sanchez added that his government, despite all the difficulties, will protect the most vulnerable middle class.
On Monday, the prime minister announced that the Spanish authorities plan to allocate about 30 billion euros by the end of 2022 to maintain the purchasing power of people most exposed to the negative effects of rising inflation.
