MOSCOW, 30 Sep — PRIME. The proposals of the European Commission to regulate gas prices and other measures do not correspond to the real needs of the EU member states, said Teresa Ribera, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge of Spain.

“Unfortunately, we believe that the conditions under which the commission makes proposals today do not correspond to what Europe needs,” she said before a meeting of the EU energy council.
According to Ribera, the European Commission failed to agree on a specific price at which the EU is ready to buy gas. Also, the member countries of the union did not reach a consensus on whether it is worth introducing a ceiling on prices only for Russian gas.
“Today we have not come to the signing of a final written document, the terms of which could be implemented immediately. But I hope that we will be able to develop a very clear orientation in this price (for gas),” the Spanish Deputy Prime Minister said.
