Singaporean startup Pundi X announced the imminent launch of the Blok on Blok blockchain smartphone, or, in short, BOB. The novelty will cost $ 599, and pre-orders for the device will begin in the 4th quarter of this year.
All data stored by the BOB will be processed through the Function X blockchain, which does not contain centralized repositories of user information. At the same time, users will be able to switch between the regular Android mobile OS and their own Pundi X system.
In addition, the smartphone can be customized – for this they will launch the “MOD Assembly Kit” with removable parts that will allow you to change the appearance of the device. Pundi X co-founder and CEO Zac Cheah said:
“BOB is a big step towards achieving our goal of a decentralized“ blockchain Internet ”, in which each piece of data is under the control of the owner. More importantly, it will provide an opportunity to look at a world based on blockchain technology, where everyone has control over their data, and everything is done in accordance with the expectations of immutability and transparency. ”
The smartphone will make it possible to use decentralized applications and blockchain services, as well as act as a network node. The first batch of devices will be 5,000 units, while it will serve as a test batch before the full-scale release of the Pundi X BOB.
Recently it became known that the Korean technology giant Samsung plans to integrate the cryptocurrency wallet from Pundi X into the smartphones of the Galaxy S10 line.
