Success of the C3N blockchain pilot project on Tezos

Edouard Klein, policeman at Center for Combating Digital Crime (C3N), returned to the pilot project launched this fall by the C3N on the blockchain Tezos.

Last November, the Digital Crime Center of the National Gendarmerie announced to test the blockchain of the foundation Tezos in order to strengthen the traceability of some of his spending.

according to Edouard Klein, R&D project manager at C3N and questioned by ZDNet, the pilot went well and allowed to keep the accounts and the expenses of a grant allocated by Europol.

Europol asked us for precise accounts of this type of financing. So we spent the money and each transaction was recorded on the blockchain after purchase. That’s what allowed us to have the payments validated by Europol afterwards, ”said Klein.

It’s not surprising to see the C3N turn to blockchain. Cyberendarmes are indeed investigating more and more cases related to crypto-currencies and quickly realized the power of their underlying technology.

According to Klein, such a process allows to reduce the usual procedure and to achieve significant savings (a few cents against 40 euros per procedure).

With Europol, it worked very well and they validated our account book without problem. With this project, we showed the technical feasibility of the project. Now we’d like to scale up. But it takes the political will to expand it, "he added.
