Sweden admits its unpreparedness for possible power outages

MOSCOW, 18 Sep — PRIME. Sweden is ill-prepared for possible power outages amid the energy crisis in the kingdom and Europe, SVT reported, citing the Swedish Public Protection and Emergency Preparedness Agency (MSB).

The Kremlin called the United States a source of provocative actions

The TV channel quoted Jan Olof Olsson, an MSB employee, who noted that, unfortunately, the overall readiness (for power outages – ed.) is very low.

“Already in 2011, we identified 50,000 socially important operations in Sweden that depend on electricity,” he added.

According to Statistics Sweden, electricity prices increased by 29% last month. In addition, the cost of food, furniture and household appliances, as well as visits to restaurants continued to increase. Food prices have risen for the ninth month in a row, the report adds.
