MOSCOW, 27 Sep — PRIME. The Swedish seismic center reported that powerful underwater explosions were registered in the area of gas leaks from the Nord Stream, writes Karl Fried Kleberg, a journalist for the Swedish television channel SVT, on his Twitter.
According to seismologists, two powerful explosions were recorded in the area of gas pipelines on Monday.
“There is no doubt that these were explosions,” Bjorn Lund, a spokesman for the agency, told the TV channel, quoted by the journalist.
On Monday, Nord Stream 2 AG reported that on one of the lines of Nord Stream 2 (it was filled with technical gas after construction), an emergency occurred in Danish waters near the island of Bornholm, accompanied by a sharp drop in pressure. The reasons are unknown, an investigation is underway, the company specified. Then, Nord Stream AG, the operator of Nord Stream, reported a decrease in pressure on both strings (it was stopped since the end of August, but was filled with gas). The reasons are also not known.
