Test – Antec Mercury 240
| Specs | Price

Hi everyone!

A boost of energy comes from Antec recently, in fact the brand is doing its utmost to bring out new products capable of making their mark again. Today I am going to present to you the brand new AIO watercooling kit, the Mercury 240! In addition, of course, to a 240mm radiator, a pump specially designed to have a high flow rate as well as LEDs everywhere. Indeed in addition to the LEDs that we find on the fans even the pump is equipped with them (and this changes according to the temperature of the processor!), Which should have a certain effect on those who can no longer do without them!
offered at a recommended price of € 99 and guaranteed for 5 years, the Antec Mercury 240 is in the mid-range of this type of product, given the jungle it will not be easy to stand out, let’s see it all more closely!

As usual at Antec the box is clearly not shielded from pompous marketing, indeed there is a photo of the beast, the name of the brand and the model of course as well as a small listing of the strong points, such as the PWM LED fans, studied pump, graphite bearing and so on. At the rear a table of technical characteristics is present, in 8 different languages, in case πŸ˜‰

Inside the box we find like all products of this type a cardboard mold and each component in individual plastic bags, transport should not be a problem.

The Mercury 240 bundle is complete, in addition to the 2 LED fans and the manual there are of course the installation kits on the various sockets as well as a 2 x 4-pin -> 1 x 4-pin adapter and a pump power cable.

Here is the beast! As we can see we are in the presence here of an AIO kit almost identical to what we find everywhere on the market, except for the pump which is dressed in a white rubber which will make it stand out from the rest of the configuration. The build quality as well as the finishes are also very good, let’s take a closer look.

The 240 mm radiator is made of aluminum fins all painted in black, nothing very foolish and it remains a classic, once again the build quality is very good. In addition to this, however, we find the logo of the brand in a corner, it will not necessarily be seen according to the direction of installation of the beast.

The pipes are not removable, as on almost all AIO kits on the market, not that users have fun customizing the thing in general.

The pump has been given special treatment, the top is white and marked with the brand logo, once powered up we will be entitled to 3 colors depending on the temperatures of the CPU, blue, green or red, I already see sparkling eyes in the room πŸ˜‰

In order to power the pump a connector is present, it will connect directly to the power supply via the supplied cable (which plugs into a Sata).

The surface in contact with the processor is copper, mirror finish point here and we can clearly see the machining traces, nothing that does not really change the performance of the thing but we can see that we are not facing a premium product here.

The 2 fans supplied are equipped with large rubber pads in each corner in order to absorb vibrations as well as possible, a large LED strip runs inside the chassis and the blades are transparent. There is no indication on the bearing used by the fans, Antec only gives the rotation speed ranging from 900 to 1800 RPM for a maximum consumption of 3.6 Watts.

The Mercury 240 is compatible with all mainstream sockets on the market, from the aging and now obsolete 775 to 2066 at Intel and from AM2 to FM2 + at AMD with of course the latest AM4, which means that it will have to be done on purpose so as not to not be able to install it πŸ˜‰ The dimensions of the whole are usual for a radiator of 240 mm, 27.4 cm in length for 11.9 cm in width and 5.4 cm (with the fans) in thickness, it will fit without the slightest problem in all boxes compatible with a 240mm radiator.
The fans are 12 cm models of the brand operating in PWM, rotating at a speed ranging from 900 to 1800 RPM, the theoretical maximum sound level is 30 dB, on the other hand with a minimum speed of 900 RPM this may not be quiet enough for the pickiest, but we’ll see that in the tests!
Offered at a price of around 100 € and guaranteed for 5 years, the Mercury 240 has the technical characteristics of almost all its competitors, it will be necessary to see how it can stand out in practice to justify its purchase compared to another πŸ˜‰
