Today is a big day, it announces the test of the first box from be quiet !, the Silent Base 800. After products oriented silence such as fans, power supplies and coolers it was logical that be quiet! launches a product likely to accommodate all these small people :). It is now done with a silent oriented case (and yes logical!) But not sacrificing performance. The Silent Base 800 is equipped with 3 Pure Wings 2 fans (2 x 14 cm 1000 RPM and 1 x 12 cm RPM) of the same brand out of a total of 7 installable fans.
The launch of a first box is not easy in this ultra competitive jungle, it is better not to miss the boat, especially since the box from be quiet! was long overdue, offered at a recommended price of 119 € let’s see what the first born has in the belly!

The be quiet! Silent Base 800 is therefore a box that can accommodate a motherboard ranging from mini-ITX to ATX (and therefore 7 expansion slots available), with 3 5.25 ″ bays, 7 3.5 ″ bays as well as 4 2.5 ″ bays for your SSDs. . The ventilation is not really outdone with a maximum of 7 fans that can be installed including 3 delivered as standard which are the very good Pure Wings 2, 2 of 14cm at the front with a maximum speed of 1000 RPM as well as a 12 cm at the rear turning at 1200 RPM (1500 without the adapter supplied with it), which means that the original case should not really be noisy (at least if you install silent components). A rather nice little feature is the possibility of adjusting the air flow coming from the side panel via a 3 notch slider in order to breathe the graphics card if necessary.
The front connection is all in all very basic but complete with 2 USB 3.0 ports, 2 USB 2.0 ports and the eternal 3.5mm jacks.
The case has rather generous dimensions, without going to the extreme with 55.9 cm high, 49.5 cm deep and 26.6 cm wide with the removable feet installed. Regarding the compatibility of internal components be quiet! did not want to do in the lace with a graphics card that can reach 29 cm by keeping the hard drive cage in the middle and 40 cm by removing the latter, the processor will be entitled to a cooler of a maximum size of 17 cm.
There or be quiet! has done its utmost is in terms of sound insulation, foam is applied wherever possible, on the side panels as well as behind the 2 front doors in order to reduce noise and vibrations as much as possible. The dust filters are also not left out with 1 filter at the power supply, 1 on the front and 1 on each of the side panels.
Offered at a recommended price of 119 € the be quiet! Silent Base 800 on paper looks rather tempting, both in terms of functionality and the special care given to operating silence (fans, foam etc.), is it worth the price? This is what we will see!

As usual from be quiet! the packaging is very sober and classy, ​​the product photo in profile on a black background with only the brand at the top left and the name of the product written in white. Marketing is not put too much forward, only a small list of strong points is present at the bottom right (3 Pure Wings 2 fans, “unique concept which guarantees silence be quiet!” (Which concept? 🙂), etc. ..)

Shame on me I did not take a photo once the box was opened, but the box is in a bag allowing it not to suffer from scratches during transport and is well wedged in 2 polystyrene plates.
