We talk about RTX 3080 Ti again: a new detail and a ‘non-news’ check

The latest rumors on the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti, rumored card designed to be placed between the RTX 3080 and 3090, dated back to February, with a sudden change of specifications: from 20 GB to
12 GB of memory, like the RTX 3060. The new rumors of these hours, not only reaffirm the allocation of that amount of memory, but tell us that the GDDR6X on board the card will work at 19 Gbps (as on 3080).

The other news, but in our opinion a “non news”, that the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti would have like the last RTX 3060 12GB a software limiter to halve its performance with the calculations underlying Ethereum mining and the like. It is clear that this measure will be implemented for all upcoming Ampere cards, unless they are models with “very low” computing performance, also because Nvidia has an interest in diverting miners to the new CMP proposals.

If anything, the news would be the arrival of this limiter on the future production of the cards already presented (3080, 3070, etc.). Nvidia has already made it clear that it has no intention of limiting the performance of GPUs already sold, unless there are sudden reversals that are not foreseeable today.
