Hi all !

Even if Corsair is now known for a large number of products, from cases to CPU cooling systems through various and varied peripherals, we must not forget that in its early days it only offered PC memory modules. And that’s what we’re going to test today with a 2 x 16 GB DDR4 3600 MHz kit from the Vengeance RGB Pro SL range. This range is a low profile variant of the Vengeance RGB Pro that we have already tested previously and are therefore more suitable for being installed under an imposing cooler. Let’s see what it gives!

As usual and to ensure almost guaranteed compatibility with all motherboard and CPU duos, Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro SL memory modules operate at a frequency of 2133 MHz for timings of 15-15-15-36. at 1.2 V. In this way, the PC should logically offer a display no matter what. But if you want to take advantage of the frequency for which the kit is sold, it is mandatory to activate the XMP profile (or DOCP at AMD). Once done, our kit then climbs to 3600 MHz for timings of 18-22-22-42 at a voltage of 1.35 V. Certainly, performance fans will find that these technical characteristics do not make you dream, but they do not. Do not forget that we are dealing with 16 GB modules and that it is much more difficult at the same time to increase in frequency while keeping low latencies. In any case, almost all of the kits including 16 GB modules at this frequency at Corsair have such latencies.

The big change in this range is the presence of more compact radiators than the “classic” Vengeance RGB Pro, namely that they are now 44 mm high in order to fit under most coolers on the market. They are of course still made of aluminum and the ARGB edging with ten LEDs is still there. As for the price, it is identical to the Vengeance RGB Pro kit with the same characteristics, namely 190 €. And looking at the market prices, this is one of the cheapest kits in their class! And in this regard, moreover, we can not help but push a big rant against the web merchants and the prices charged. Indeed, the price of Corsair products is already high in itself but most sellers do not hesitate to inflate the prices outrageously. For example, the Vengeance RGB Pro SL 2 x 16 GB DDR4 3600 MHz kit is available for 190 € directly from Corsair while Topachat displays it for 240 €, 249 € for LDLC or even 247 € at Amazon. The increase is far from trivial, namely between 26 and 31% over the recommended price. In short, we are in favor of supporting French e-merchants, but we should not abuse good things too much either.
