Test – SilentiumPC Fortis 3 HE1425: Specs | Price | CPU | Profitability | Hashrate | best Coins | Config | Advantage (Pros) and Disadvantages (Cons) and other important features that will help you make better decision.

SilentiumPC is back at Conseil Config with their brand new cooler, after very good Fera 2 and Grandis XE1236 coolers with an almost unbeatable performance / price ratio, it’s the turn of the all new Fortis 3 HE1425 to make its show! As a reminder SilentiumPC is a Polish company founded in 2007 in Warsaw specializing in silent products (as its name suggests!) With a quality / performance / price ratio that should hurt the competition.

On the program with the Fortis 3 HE1425 today a cooler equipped with a 14cm fan, 5 6mm call pipes and a rather imposing aluminum cooling surface, all offered at a recommended price of 37 €! If the results are good it could turn out to be a very good alternative to the more expensive coolers on the market, let’s see what the beast has in the belly!

SilentiumPC_Fortis_3_box1
SilentiumPC_Fortis_3_boite3

The box of the Fortis 3 HE1425 is like the other coolers from SilentiumPC, namely very sober, white with a photo of the product on the front side accompanied by the model and the brand. Once again the marketing has not struck here and no point saying that it is the best cooler in the world, it is very appreciable! At the back we find a listing of the strengths of the cooler (Asymmetrical design, 14cm silent PWM fan, secure and easy installation, etc.) as well as a QR code leading directly to the manufacturer’s website which offers a detailed video of the assembly and a photo of the bundle, which is really useful information!

SilentiumPC_Fortis_3_box2

On the side we find the technical data of the beast, dimensions, weight, number of fans, sound level, RPM etc.

SilentiumPC_Fortis_3_box4

When opening the box we find 2 white boxes and the cooler sandwiched between 2 plastic molds, in one box we find the bundle and in the other the 14 cm fan. The protections are pretty basic here but should be more than enough to get there in one piece 🙂

SilentiumPC_Fortis_3_bundle

The bundle consists of:

  • 1 Fortis 3 HE1425 radiator
  • 1 fan 14cm PWM (500 -> 1400RPM)
  • 4 clips for 3 fans
  • 1 AMD and Intel compatible backplate
  • AMD and Intel mounting bars
  • 1 tube of thermal paste
  • The necessary screws
  • 2 installation manuals

As we can see the bundle is quite sufficient to install the cooler, a tube of thermal paste as well as 4 fasteners to install the fan included plus a second if the heart tells you, we really can not ask for much more at this price!

SilentiumPC_Fortis_3

Here is the beast! as we can see for the price SilentiumPC therefore does not offer nickel-plated copper calloducts and we stay with classic colored copper, for the rest the build quality is very good, the fins are well designed and the brand has nevertheless made the effort to put a last fin above black in order to make the beast a little more classy in a box with window, which is not to displease! Let’s go for a little tour of the owner.

SilentiumPC_Fortis_3_cote1
SilentiumPC_Fortis_3_cote2

The radiator is made up of 39 aluminum fins (including the black one above), of course crossed by the 5 6mm copper callpipes. The build quality is very good and does not demerit compared to some more expensive models even if everything remains very basic. On the side of the fan the fins are all flat while at the back (so towards the rear of the case a recess is there and which perhaps has another function than the aesthetic. As we can see the base is equipped with a basic metal bar which will be used to fix the beast to the motherboard.

SilentiumPC_Fortis_3_cote3

We can see that the Fortis 3 is asymmetrical, in fact, in the interests of memory compatibility, everything is deported towards the back of the motherboard. Unlike the Hyper 612 v2 from Cooler Master which sports a very similar design, there are no fins at the back here cut to accommodate memory modules with a large heatsink (if it is installed on a socket 2011 for example).

SilentiumPC_Fortis_3_cote3_1
SilentiumPC_Fortis_3_dessous

The base is made up of 6 6mm thick copper heat pipes all glued to each other and in direct contact with the processor. The build quality is very good even if it does not have a high-end finish (nickel-plated calloducts, contact surface with mirror effect, etc.) which is quite normal at this price.

SilentiumPC_Fortis_3_above

As for its other coolers silentiumPC has the attention to detail and look with a black aluminum fin engraved with the brand’s logo so as not to leave out people with a case with a window, it’s always nice!

SilentiumPC_Fortis_3_ventilateur1
SilentiumPC_Fortis_3_ventilateur2

The fan is a Sigma Pro model of the brand, 14 cm with 12 cm fixing holes. The speed of rotation goes from 500 to 1400 RPM, which should ensure as much a very appreciable silence but will certainly be quite noisy at the maximum, the whole for a given maximum consumption of 1.8 Watt. The build quality is quite good, better than the other fans I could find on the brand’s coolers so this is a good surprise!

SilentiumPC_Fortis_3_ventilateur3

The 4 threads are black and covered with a braid which gives a glimpse of the latter, fortunately they are black otherwise they would be clearly visible!

As usual SilentiumPC does everything to maintain maximum compatibility, the Fortis is therefore compatible with all current sockets on the market and also with the old 1366 and 775 from Intel, which have long since disappeared! Regarding the dimensions once again the brand does not see disproportionate with a height of 15.8 cm, 14 cm in width and 12.5 cm in depth, which should make the beast compatible with many configurations, and especially boxes! The weight is average for this type of cooler with 820 g including the fan.

SilentiumPC has decided to equip its Fortis 3 with 5 copper callpipes 6mm thick which should be able to keep a processor up to 220 Watts cool. The fan used as said above is a 14 cm rotating with a speed ranging from 500 to 1400 RPM for a maximum consumption of 1.8 Watts and a sound level ranging from 8 to 22 dB, which should ensure a very appreciable silence at rest while by being able if the need is felt to have a fairly substantial air flow.
The main strong point of the Fortis 3 and like all the brand’s coolers is most certainly the price, 37 € TTC for the beast accompanied by a 2-year warranty.

Videos are available on the manufacturer’s website to help buyers, that doesn’t mean I won’t detail the steps, but here they are anyway!

To start we will tackle the back plate of the motherboard, it is worth taking the 4 square head screws as well as the plastic clips below:

SilentiumPC_XE1236_montage1

Then you have to put the screws in the holes corresponding to the socket of the motherboard, 1156 in my case therefore the middle hole and slide the plastic clips over the metal tab, like this:

SilentiumPC_Fortis_3_montage1
SilentiumPC_Fortis_3_montage2
SilentiumPC_Fortis_3_montage3

Once the 4 screws are installed in the 4 corners, just place everything under the motherboard and we end up with this:

SilentiumPC_Fortis_3_montage4

Then you have to put the 4 black plastic spacers on the screws, like this:

SilentiumPC_Fortis_3_montage5

The 2 fixing bars are placed on the spacers, 2 orientations are possible either with the fan which blows towards the top of the case or towards the rear:

SilentiumPC_Fortis_3_montage6

Once installed, all you have to do is screw them:

SilentiumPC_Fortis_3_montage7

Do not forget to put a grain of thermal paste rice on the processor, especially do not put too much!

SilentiumPC_Fortis_3_montage8

Finally, you have to put the radiator (without the fan) on the processor and screw it, nothing could be simpler! All you have to do is fix the supplied fan, plug it into the adapter at the PWM connector on the motherboard!

SilentiumPC_Fortis_3_montage9

And There you go! The SilentiumPC Fortis 3 HE1425 is now ready to do battle!

Memory / PCIe compatibility

A crucial point not to be taken lightly when buying a cooler, indeed if you are not careful you may end up with the impossibility of installing the memory or the graphics card, see both if you’re lucky! So let’s see how the Fortis 3 is doing at this level:

SilentiumPC_Fortis_3_clearance_pcie

Regarding the first 16x PCIe port glued to the processor socket, there is no need to worry, the heat sink is far enough away not to interfere, on the other hand the fan protrudes a little and gets closer to the port, but it is possible to shift it so it shouldn’t be too much of a problem either!

SilentiumPC_Fortis_3_clearance_memoire1
SilentiumPC_Fortis_3_clearance_memoire2

With its asymmetrical design, memory modules are not worried in the least, it will be possible to install large, unnecessary 10 cm high modules if the desire arises!

The test platform

The SilentiumPC Fortis 3 HE1425 has been tested on the configuration below:

  • Processor : Intel Core i7 875K @ 3.2 Ghz
  • Motherboard : Asus P7P55D
  • Memory : Kingston HyperX Fury 2 x 8 GB 1866Mhz
  • Hard Drive: WD Raptor 150 GB
  • Graphics card : Sapphire Toxic 5850
  • Power supply : Seasonic X650

The test protocol

The core i7 875K has been slightly overclocked to 3.2Ghz. The temperatures under load are an average of all the cores for 3 tests of 30 minutes on OCCT, the temperatures at rest were taken after 15mins on the desk (still an average of the 4 cores).

The cooler has been tested against:

  • be quiet! Pure Rock (tested here)
  • be quiet! Dark Rock 3 (tested here)
  • be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 3 (tested here)
  • Noctua NH-U12S (tested here)
  • Noctua NH-U14S (tested here)
  • Noctua NH-D15 (tested here)
  • Scythe Ninja 4 (tested here)
  • SilentiumPC Hera 2 HE1224 v2 (tested here)
  • SilentiumPC Grandis XE1236 (tested here)

The temperatures

SilentiumPC_Fortis_3_resultats_temperatures

The Fortis 3 from SilentiumPC fulfills its role perfectly, in fact it can cool the Core i7 of the test configuration without the slightest problem. In 5V the processor rises to a temperature of 61 ° to drop to 53 ° in 12V, when the ventilation is left to the motherboard the processor stabilizes at 58 °. Suffice to say that whatever the settings there will be no problem for 99% of the processors on the market!

On the other hand, it goes without saying that we are not here in the presence of the performance of much larger and above all much more expensive coolers such as the Noctua NH-D15 and the be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 3, but the target is clearly not the same 🙂

Noise pollution

Warning: Part to be taken with a grain of salt, unfortunately not having access to the appropriate equipment and using an android application to take the readings The measurements below are only indicative! The readings were taken 15cm from the cooler.

SilentiumPC_Fortis_3_resultats_nuisances_sonores

SilentiumPC once again bears its name very well, in 5V the fan is really very discreet and you will have to strain your ears to hear it, in PWM mode we go up to a very good 36 dB which will not bother 99% of users to reach a maximum of 41 dB when the fan is on full power.

Basically, in 5V and PWM the Fortis will undoubtedly be inaudible in a classic configuration under load (drowned in the noise of the graphics card or the power supply) to be heard in 12V (if the graphics card is silent). Seeing the price charged by SilentiumPC there is no doubt that we can not really ask for much more!

SilentiumPC_Fortis_3_random

Here we are at the end of this test, what about the SilentiumPC Fortis 3 HE1425?
SilentiumPC makes it a point of honor to offer products with an excellent performance / price / noise ratio and as usual the bet is successful here. The Fortis 3 HE1425 has a good build quality, even if as usual the costs have been reduced as much as possible in order to keep an attractive price the brand does not neglect the look by keeping a black upper aluminum plate and the sheathed fan cable, small details that could very well have not been present and that would not have changed the final score!

The performance of the fortis 3 is very good, allowing any processor on the market to be cooled under very good conditions, even moderately overclocked. The noise pollution is really excellent in 5V and PWM mode, the fan will however be heard in 12V without attacking the ears.

Offered at a price of 37 € the SilentiumPC Fortis 3 HE1425 will really be an excellent choice for anyone looking for a cooler going straight to the point and having an excellent performance / price ratio, perhaps the next cooler in your gamer config?

Advantages

  • Price!
  • Quiet
  • Look for an entry-level product
