MOSCOW, 30 Sep — PRIME. The European Commission supported the introduction of a “price ceiling” for Russian gas and negotiations on price corridors with those suppliers with whom the EU “can negotiate.” This was stated by the European Commissioner for Energy Kadri Simson.
French finance minister calls for urgent cuts in gas and electricity prices
“We must offer a price limit for all Russian gas, both pipeline and LNG, and with partners with whom we can negotiate, we must negotiate price corridors,” she told reporters in front of an extraordinary council of EU energy ministers.
The politician added that the European authorities should impose a price limit on natural gas for generating electricity at the regional level. The EC is ready to develop such a project, the European Commissioner stressed.
According to Simson, “the result cannot be an increase in energy demand.”
