The EU announced plans to create a platform for joint gas purchases

BRUSSELS, 13 Oct – PRIME. The European Union has not yet made joint purchases of “blue fuel”, although a special platform for the possibility of such operations was created in the spring, said Tim McPhee, spokesman for the European Commission.

He recalled that the EU has created an energy platform. The European Commission materials specify that it was formed in April, it was planned that it would play a key role in pooling demand, coordinating the use of infrastructure, negotiating with international partners and preparing for joint purchases of gas and hydrogen in the EU. The platform is a voluntary coordination mechanism.

“We haven’t had any joint purchases yet,” McPhee said.

The European Commission is expected to submit proposals on the possibility of launching joint gas purchases for the European Union on October 18, then it should be considered by the EU countries.
