MOSCOW, 7 Sep — PRIME. EU member states received more than 40 billion cubic meters of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the United States from January to August 2022, compared to 22 billion cubic meters in all of 2021, European Commissioner for Energy Kadri Simson said on Twitter.

Gazprom produced the first LNG at a plant in the Leningrad region

“This year, from January to August, we received more than 40 billion cubic meters. This means that the additional 15 billion cubic meters of LNG agreed by the head of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen and US President Joe Biden have already been delivered,” she wrote.

The European Commissioner recalled that Europe imported 22 billion cubic meters of LNG from the United States in 2021, she recalled.
