MOSCOW, 7 Sep — PRIME. Eni intends to acquire the business of the British oil and gas BP in Algeria, the press service of the Italian energy company reports.
“Eni announces that it has agreed to acquire BP’s business in Algeria, which includes two gas production concessions “In Amenas” and “In Salah” (45.89% and 33.15% direct equity, respectively)”, – said in release. It is added that Eni has been present in Algeria since 1981. It is expected that the company’s production in the country will grow to more than 120,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day.
The company stressed that the assets of “In Amenas” and “In Salah”, which are jointly operated with Sonatrach and Equinor, are located in South Sahara. Their extraction of gas and condensate, reminded Eni, began in 2006 and 2004 respectively. And in 2021, about 11 billion cubic meters of gas, 12 million barrels of condensate and liquefied petroleum gas were produced there.
